The abdominal region of the body is often referred to as “the core”. In Iyengar Yoga we take the notion of the core a lot deeper than just applying it to the abdomen alone. In this workshop you will become closely acquainted with your abdominal region but also discover how it can open the gateway to your true core, the very essence of You. The workshop will examine the following:
The importance of the abdomen to your posture and everyday living plus its relationship to your ribcage, your back muscles and your spine.
How to use the yoga asanas to ensure good abdominal tone and pliability along with healthy organic function.
How weak or unbalanced abdominal muscles can contribute to such problems as backache, prolapse, aching legs, digestive problems, lethargy, poor breathing and feeling down.
Harmonious functioning of your abdominal organs with your nervous system effecting also your metabolism and your weight.
Then very importantly we will explore how to penetrate beyond the back abdominal wall to significantly effect control of the breath and drop to a deeper level of relaxation where it is possible to reach your true core and touch the essence that is you.
