Announcing the date for commencement of the Term 4 Pranayama Course at Gold Coast School Of Iyengar Yoga is November 2nd. This Course will run for six weeks on Fridays from 6 am to 7 am and is suitable for yoga students who have completed one year of regular class attendance and have established a home practice.
Pranayama is the next step in yoga after the yoga asanas and is a very important prelude to meditation. Prana refers to the Life Energy which is absorbed with the breath. In Pranayama the student learns various skills to distribute and retain the Life Energy, The breath becomes refined and rhythmic, prolonged and retained at will. There are many benefits to be gained including stronger abdominal muscles, strong nervous and immune systems and greater ability to focus attention and concentrate. Above all though the student experiences a deep state of tranquillity.
